Not really sure honestly, but my theory is its because the paintings are vault extending the black box vault somehow (cause if you destroy the paintings entirely the vault goes away) but, when you make a small hole in the paintings it opens up a new line of sight for a bigger vault prompt
You don’t need a MacB to get on the other side of the gate you can half drop and sprint vault

I think one of the latches on the box vault extends the top because of how the boxes are placed, which I will not elaborate on. The paintings then vault extend that and since they go over them it is not making it the optimal vault extend.
